Modern Slavery

SewPro is committed to conducting business in a manner that respects human rights and reduces the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chain.

Modern slavery can include forced labour, debt bondage, human trafficking, servitude and other forms of exploitation in which a person’s freedom is restricted through coercion, threats or deception. These risks can occur within global textile and apparel supply chains.

As a prerequisite to working with SewPro, our garments must be produced by established manufacturers that hold current, independently verified social-compliance certification or audits applicable to the production facility being used.

We require our manufacturing partners to demonstrate responsible employment practices, safe and lawful working conditions, and appropriate systems for managing labour and human-rights risks. Relevant evidence may include recognised factory certification or independent social-compliance audits covering areas such as:

• forced and child labour;
• wages and working hours;
• workplace health and safety;
• discrimination and harassment;
• worker dignity and lawful employment practices.

For example, WRAP-certified apparel facilities are independently assessed against principles covering lawful, safe, humane and ethical production, including the prohibition of forced and child labour.

SewPro reviews supplier documentation before appointment and may request updated certificates, audit findings or corrective-action records as part of its ongoing supplier review process.

Where a material compliance concern is identified, SewPro will seek further information and appropriate corrective action. We reserve the right to suspend or end a supplier relationship where satisfactory evidence or remediation is not provided.

Ethical Sourcing

Ethical sourcing means considering the people, processes and materials involved in creating every garment—not simply its price or appearance.

SewPro works with selected manufacturing partners that demonstrate a commitment to:

• responsible employment and safe workplaces;
• transparent and lawful production practices;
• effective quality and environmental management;
• responsible chemical and material controls;
• continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.

We favour long-term supplier relationships that provide greater visibility, consistency and accountability. We also seek to create durable garments that remain in service for longer, helping reduce unnecessary replacement, resource use and waste.

Product and Textile Safety

Product safety is particularly important where garments are worn for long periods, sit directly against the skin or are intended for children.

SewPro therefore places particular importance on OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification for relevant fabrics, components and finished garments. This standard tests textiles for harmful substances and applies to the full article, including materials such as fabric, thread, buttons and other accessories within the certified scope.

OEKO-TEX® applies different requirements according to the intended use of the product. Its strictest product class covers articles intended for babies and children up to 36 months, while garments worn directly against the skin fall within a separate direct-skin-contact class.

For SewPro’s childcare ranges, this provides additional assurance that relevant textile products have been assessed for substances that may be harmful to the wearer. It is especially important for garments that children may wear frequently, for extended periods, and in direct contact with sensitive skin.

Certification does not replace active supplier oversight. SewPro’s approach combines recognised third-party assurance with supplier documentation, ongoing review and long-term manufacturing relationships.
